Minimalism and Technical Documentation
On October 8, 2010, Zebrafish International documentation team presented "Minimalism in Technical Documentation" at the Université de Haute-Bretagne, Rennes (France). For the first time in France, this training was provided at the Centre de Formation à la Traduction, Terminologie et Rédaction.
Minimalism in technical communication was first developed by John M. Caroll "The Nurnberg Funnel: Designing Minimalist Instruction for Practical Computer Skill". Later in 1998, Caroll collected contributions from well-known communication experts and published "Minimalism beyond the Nurnberg Funnel".
Documenting for an international audience
In October 2010, Zebrafish International'Marie-L. Flacke presented an overview of "Writing for an international audience". The University of Rennes Language department is specialising in translation, localization, terminology and technical writing.
In 2009, the European Commission awarded the Rennes Centre for Translation, Terminology and Technical Writing the label "European Master in Translation". Rennes was awarded the 1st rang in France and the 1st ex aequo in Europe.
DITA in Vienna
On 15 Novembre 2010, the Zebrafish International team will present at the DITA Europe Conference in Vienna (Austria).
DITA Darwin Information Type Architecture is an OASIS standard aimed at reducing documentation costs by intensifying topic reuse. In cooperation with Nolwenn Kerzerho, Maître de conférences at the University of Rennes, Zebrafish will publicize its research on "Handling Conflicts between DITA and Warnings".
Technical Documentation basics
For the second consecutive year, the Université Catholique de l'Ouest in Angers (France) invited Zebrafish's Marie-Louise Flacke to provide a 4-day introduction in Technical Documentation basics.
The Master 2 students were trained in
- designing structured documentation.
- defining the documentation audience.
- writing for an international audience.
- handling warnings in documentation.
- designing procedures.
Instructional Design at the Université de Bretagne occidentale
In December 2010, Zebrafish International documentation team will provide
a 3-day training to Masters students at the Université de Bretagne occidentale, Brest (F) Topics will include "Instructional Design", "Minimalism""and "Usability testing".
Cooperation with EUROCONTROL External communication
In Spring 2010, Zebrafish International helped a University of Rennes (F) student for a 4-month internship with EUROCONTROL in Brussels. Arthur F. had the opportunity to update the Eurocontrol website under Ms Aurélie Valtat 's supervision. Aurélie is currently competing for the European of the Year.
Cooperation was highly positive for both parties; Arthur F. reinforced his skills in Website development and content provision.
Proposal writing and Proposal Management
Zebrafish International has recently intensified and refined its proposal techniques. In France, articles were published on the I Love PME site.
